Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Bitsum LLC (“Bitsum,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our websites, our online store, our community forum, and the software we publish (collectively, the “Services”). Bitsum LLC is the data controller responsible for your information.

We have always taken a minimal-data approach: we collect only what we need to sell, license, support, and improve our software, and we do not sell your personal information. This policy describes that practice in detail.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly. When you create an account, make a purchase, post on our forum or comment sections, or contact us for support, you may provide information such as your name, email address, username, and the contents of your messages.

1.2 Purchase information. When you make a purchase, your order details (such as products purchased, license keys issued, and billing email) are processed to fulfill and support your order. We do not receive or store your credit card number or other full payment-instrument details; payment is collected and managed by our trusted payment providers, primarily PayPal and Stripe.

1.3 Automatically collected information. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device and operating-system information, referring pages, and pages viewed. This is used for analytics, security, and to operate the site.

1.4 Software license and update information. Our software communicates with us for two limited purposes:

  • Activation (licensing): the activation process sends the activation code, user name, and version information in order to validate and activate your license.
  • Updates: the update process checks the latest available version against your currently installed version and then acts accordingly through our single-click updater.

Beyond what is described above, our software does not transmit your personal files, documents, or the contents of the processes it manages on your device.

2. Cookies

2.1 If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

2.2 If you have an account and you log in to this site, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

2.3 When you log in, we also set several cookies to save your login information and your screen-display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen-option cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies are removed.

2.4 We and our analytics providers may also use cookies and similar technologies to understand site usage, as described in Section 4. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.

3. Comments and Community

Comments on our site may be handled through Disqus, a third-party service, and posts you make on our community forum are visible to others. Information you choose to make public through these services is subject to the respective service’s privacy policy in addition to this one. Please use discretion about the personal information you share publicly.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze our website traffic. You can opt out by installing the browser add-on provided and maintained by Google, which is compatible with major browsers. Google’s analytics privacy information is available here.

5. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • process and fulfill purchases and issue and validate license keys;
  • provide, maintain, and improve our software and websites;
  • deliver software updates and respond to update and activation checks;
  • provide customer and technical support and respond to your inquiries;
  • operate our forum and comment features;
  • analyze and improve site performance and security; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

6. How We Share Information

6.1 We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share customer information with third parties for their own marketing.

6.2 We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Services, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their functions. These include, by category:

  • Payment processing: PayPal and Stripe.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics.
  • Comments: Disqus.
  • Hosting, content delivery, and security providers that support our websites and downloads.

6.3 We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will continue to protect your information consistent with this policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, maintain your account and purchase records, comply with our legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes. Cookie lifetimes are described in Section 2. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

8. Data Security

We guard the limited information we do store to the best of our abilities—certainly better than most companies our size, and likely better than many larger ones. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will disclose it as required by applicable law.

9. International Data Transfers

Bitsum LLC is based in the United States, and the information we collect is processed in the United States and in the locations of our service providers. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Your Privacy Rights

10.1 Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, update, delete, or obtain a copy of it; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10.2 EEA/UK residents (GDPR): our legal bases for processing are performance of a contract (to fulfill purchases and licensing), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Services), your consent (for example, optional analytics or comment cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.

10.3 California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

10.4 To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Links

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

14. Contact Us
